Emirates World Aluminum has signed a new 3-year contract with the Vietnamese company Finacomin to continue to supply alumina to the UAE until 2023. Under the agreement, Emirates World Aluminum will continue to purchase up to 300,000 tons of alumina from Finacomin annually.
This agreement is an extension of the agreement signed by the two companies in late 2017 and scheduled to expire at the end of this year. This follows a visit by a trade delegation to Vietnam in October, headed by His Excellency Sultan Al-Mansouri, Minister of Economy. Alumina is considered among the most prominent elements of commercial exchange between the UAE and Vietnam.Abdul Nasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates International Aluminum Company, said: “We are pleased to strengthen the strong partnership with Finacomin in the framework of the growing trade relations between the two countries, and we look forward to continuing to obtain alumina from Vietnam in the coming years, as well as exploring ways in which we can work in a manner As broad as improving the infrastructure of Vietnamese ports and other exploration opportunities. ”
On his part, Dang Thanh Hai, President, and CEO of Finacomin said: “Emirates International Aluminum is the largest producer of high-quality aluminum in the world, and we are pleased to extend our agreement to supply alumina with this leading aluminum manufacturer. For Finacomin, this agreement is also in line with the directives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade to contribute to strengthening trade relations with the UAE, the most important trading partner of our country in the MENA region. ” Alumina is refined from bauxite ore, the primary material for aluminum smelters.
